Beer Dinner Smackdown: Camden's vs. Legend
In a most unlikely turn of events, Camden’s Dogtown Market has been sanctioned to STEAL BUSINESS from its neighbor, Legend Brew Pub, and serve a menu of fantastic food and beer pairing for one night only! This was a feat of great détente, with a team of negotiators working into the wee hours to placate two sides with monster egos and little common ground, but in the end an accord was reached and the people shall be the victors!
Actually, Legend’s Sales Manager Kevin Timme stopped into Camden’s for some toothpaste and asked if we might ever be interested in hosting a beer dinner with him, to which we shrugged and said “Sure.”
But from that small exchange a dinner of epic proportions has emerged and we’re going to make it sound BIGGER THAN IT IS!Sunday, January 27 at 6:30. Menu and details here.

From 4:30-7:00 every Friday in the “Libation Section” of Camden’s Dogtown Market, we’ll be offering a tasting of 4 specially priced wines that would go great with your weekend activities, be they grilling, sports, yard work, lounging or just very…slowly…dying!
The tasting is free, but a glass of any one will be available for purchase, as will bottles for you to take home to impress your spouse and friends, or to accompany sobbing in the dark to your favorite 80’s ballads!
See you there!

Style Weekly on Camden's Dogtown Market

Style Weekly’s Tess Autrey Bosher picks her favorites at Chef Andy Howell’s newest restaurant here in the Corrugated Box Building.
For lunch, sandwiches include a tasty turkey, ham and bacon club on focaccia ($8), and the deliciously drippy roasty swine ($9), a baguette filled with pork loin, caramelized onions, provolone and red pepper chowchow. It’s worth the extra buck to substitute the excellent fries for chips.
At dinner,
The pick of the litter is the Portuguese stew ($16), filled with Prince Edward Island mussels, potatoes, sausage and shrimp in a smoked paprika broth. Grilled bread saves you the embarrassment of licking the bowl clean. Other offerings include fries and mussels, pork scaloppine saltimbocca and a daily pasta special.
In summary,
The gourmet-bodega-meets-dining hybrid answers the riddle, “Where in Richmond can you get kitty litter, Laurent-Perrier champagne and a $15 lasagna dinner, all under one roof?” For an underserved area, it’s a fairly brilliant concept, and it looks like this dog might hunt….
Camden’s Dogtown Market sets its own standard, and so far it seems eager to please.Catch the whole review at the link above.

![Recent press on our new favorite restaurant and market—Camden’s Dogtown Market.
From Richmond.com’s Karri Peifer:
…after a few months of regrouping, revamping the space, and completely overhauling the concept, [Chef Andy] Howell has reopened the space on his own and is back to his wildly delicious (and always affordable) Mediterranean-influenced roots.
Camden’s Dogtown Market, the new name for the totally new spot, is a market / restaurant that’s now open Monday – Saturday with gourmet market wares, and then for lunch and dinner on the same days.
Catch the full-story here.
And from Style Weekly’s Deveron Timberlake:
In the same way that Camden, the mystery-breed dog, is a friendly mascot, the retooled Camden’s Dogtown Market at 201 W. Seventh St. is a food business mongrel. Chef Andy Howell has turned the short-lived Ejay Rin noodle bar into a catch-all affair that’s whetting the appetites of those who’ve known and loved his cuisine at Café Rustica, Avenue 805 and Zeus Gallery Café.
